Feel free to skip this section if you’re trying to clean items that don’t belong to you or are factually wrong. This section is a short motivation speech for people who dug themselves a hole and are feeling like they deserve to be there. Here’s where a lot of people run into their first big hurdle: their conscience. A lot of people, as I used to, feel that they shouldn’t challenge items on their credit reports that are legitimate. Wrong. If you continue to think that way you will never fix your credit. It is your right to challenge the accuracy of your credit report at any time. As shifty as it sounds at first, you are not really challenging whether an item is accurate or not. You are challenging the system’s ability to prove it. Start by thinking about why you even have to do this in the first place. Who are these people? They’re gigantic corporations who make money off of selling your personal information and they don’t care if it’s accurate or not. You are not a human being to them. You are a number, a file, and ultimately they reduce your entire life and ability to exist into what is really an arbitrary three digit number. Why do we even live in this idiotic system? We should all be living in a tropical paradise working an hour a day! Who’s to blame for all this? THE SYSTEM IS! Did you miss some credit card payments a couple years back? Sure. But what were those same credit card companies doing giving an eighteen year old credit cards with $8,000 limits? You have made mistakes, admit that to your self , learn your lessons, and change your life for the better. It is now time for you to stop being the victim of the poor decisions that a younger, less experienced you made. Get motivated, get defensive about your credit report, and get busy!
