Credit Repair: Make lists

Credit repair: List negative items

Your next step in credit repair is making lists. Lists of what you ask? Lists of all the negative items from your credit reports. I like to make 4 columns on a piece of paper, one for each major credit bureau. Yes, you have to include Innovis just to be safe. Then in each appropriate column, simply write down each negative item appearing on the credit report. Once you’ve done that for all of the reports you have, compare the lists and look for items that appear in multiple lists. If it’s your first pass at credit repair there’s probably going to be quite a few. Ultimately it won’t matter because you’re going to try and get rid of all negative items, but in the beginning stages of credit repair it helps a little if you can send duplicate challenges to items that appear on multiple credit reports. On the other hand, each report might contain completely different information. Don’t worry about it, right now we’re worried about discovering the negative items and seeing the lay of the land.

Credit repair: Prioritize your challenges

Once you have all your lists made and compare them, we want to prioritize them in order of importance. The first thing to work on is any item that references a bankruptcy. As long as any item on your credit reports references a bankruptcy, it’ll be about impossible to get the Bankruptcy removed. Once you identify anything directly connected to a bankruptcy you want to make a list of the negative items going from most harmful to least harmful. If you can’t tell exactly where something should belong, look at any codes it might have. Generally, the higher the number the more it’ll hurt you. To make the most efficient work on your credit repair, here’s the order you want to work on negative items:

Credit repair: Order of challenges

-Items referencing a bankruptcy
-Bankruptcy
-Foreclosures
-Repossesions
-Defaults
-Court Judgements
-Collections
-Account over 120 due, but not in collection
-Pays or Paid in more than 90, but less than 120 days
-Pays or Paid in more than 60, but less than 90 days
-Pays or Paid in more than 30, but less than 60 days
-Credit Rejections
-Inquiries
